Allegra Froud, Signora Storace and Miss Hilaria Brent….
They are the ladies of Lady Georgianna. Wearing shiny, cleavage-enhancing dresses, they play the popular hits of the 18th century, that time of Marie Antoinette and Mad King George.
Do you love big dresses, velvet jackets, feathers and flowers?
Are you a shy wallflower or lascivious libertine?
Would you want to meet rogues, wenches, tars and harlots?
Or do you sigh at the dulcet tones of harpsichord, cello and trilling vocals floating through the summer air of the pleasure garden?
If so, then we could just be the band for you.
The story starts in 2006, Abigail Seabrook, on a search for 18th century theatre music, is allowed to look through the crumbling pages of a pile of dusty books from the basement of a local library. Realising that this music has long been out of print, and that she could be the first to see it for years, she embarks on a mission to bring them to life once more. Abi enlists the help of Micaela Schmitz, harpsichordist and baroque expert, to explore this material. Together with cellist Emily Hurrell, the trio pore over copies of the music to discover their secrets, don their strangely named alter egos…and Lady Georgianna is born!
